60 seconds with… Callum Duckworth

In just six short years working in the hotel sector, Callum Duckworth has worked his way up to the role of business development manager, MICE – London, for The Doyle Collection. Also a passionate footballer – he plays at county level – Callum’s role involves developing both new and existing business into the portfolio of The Doyle Collection. The portfolio is a carefully curated collection of eight Irish family-owned luxury and urban hotels located in London, Dublin, Washington DC, Cork and Bristol. Each hotel has a strong identity that is closely connected to its location and is unique in the way that has brought a cultural slice of its city into the fabric of the building and the guest experience.

The Doyle Collection is all about the personal guest experience from the moment you step foot onto one of our properties. We live by our guests going from home to home rather than home to hotel, as comfort is essential for the stay with us.

What’s trending in 2017
I have noticed over the last year that Ireland and London are really becoming key destinations in the incentive travel market, which is certainly something we want to capitalise on.

Townhouse or treehouse?
A city centre hotel for me that has character. I like to know the history of the hotels which always makes it feel a lot more personal.

The bucket list
Maldives is still top for me. Renting one of the villas out at sea is definitely on the bucket list.

Last meal
Dans Le Noir – eating in the pitch black was certainly an experience!

Old fave
The Old Swan and Minster mill out in the Cotswolds.

Proud moment
Achieving my current position in such a short career so far.

Bragging rights
Hosting my boyhood team West Ham at one of our hotels.

It’s all in the detail
It’s all about remembering the little things our clients like, such as the newspaper they read, where they like to sit in the restaurant.

Aperol or agua?
Gin & Tonic, but the Gin has to be Arbikie.
