‘Quad Calamity’ puts Agency in the Dock

With risk assessment and crisis management hot topics for event organisers in 2017, inVOYAGE is set to get legal with its first ever mock trial, to be heard in the courtroom in Porto’s stunning Palácio da Bolsa next month.

The mock trial, which is being run in partnership with micebook, will see the complainant in the case suing ‘Agency X’ for negligence alleged to have occurred during an incident in a quad bike activity organised as part of an event.

Presided over by his honour Judge Chetan Shah, micebook founder and CEO, delegates and suppliers attending inVOYAGE 2017 from 2-5 October in Porto, will hear from prosecution and defence, played by other industry players, and be asked to weigh up the evidence to determine whether Agency X is guilty or not.

“The idea of the trial came up when we did a site visit of one of our evening venues, Palácio da Bolsa, which is the old stock exchange in Porto. It has a court room onsite and we thought it would be great to incorporate some kind of activity there,” said Richard Joslin, inVOYAGE founder and CEO.

“We knew that Chetan regularly speaks on the topic of risk assessment, which is something event planners need to be aware of so we asked him to get involved. The trial is a fun and engaging way to get people thinking about a very serious the topic.”
