Lynne Mulgrew has spent 17 years in the events industry and has a wealth of hotel, training and agency experience, spending time with De Vere Venues, (IHG) Intercontinental Hotel Group, and Zibrant before joining venue finding and event management agency Conference Care in 2011. Lynne’s key strengths in forming lasting professional relationships and implementing new customers ensured she progressed rapidly within the business and is highly respected in her current role as Head of Sales. Outside of work she loves a good sunshine holiday with her daughter.

What’s trending in 2018
We’ve seen an increase in demand for high end products, everyone wants and expects the next big thing! Destinations also have to deliver more ‘bang for their buck’; offering not just amazing venues but learning opportunities and cultural experiences too.

Townhouse or treehouse?
My ideal venue is somewhere you can escape. I am fortunate to visit many venues and destinations, so actually something remote and exclusive away from the hustle and bustle of life appeals the most to me.
The bucket list
The St. Regis Langkawi is top of my list at the moment. Why do I want to go there? Who wouldn’t?!
We recently went to Galvin Green Man, Chelmsford. Already been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand it’s one of the oldest pubs in Essex and a truly beautiful spot.
Aperol or agua?
I’m partial to an Aperol Spritz when the sun is shining, but when the nights draw in you can’t beat a traditional glass of mulled wine.
Ellenborough Park is a particular favourite of mine, it’s the quietly understated epitome of classic elegance and British countryside.
It’s always very exciting when you secure a new account. When you eat sleep and breathe a potential new client the buzz of the win is incredibly satisfying; those highs always give me an immense feeling of pride.
It’s hard to pick one moment, I think actually working in the industry we to tend to take for granted the opportunities we have to experience new and exciting venues and destinations – I only have to speak to friends and colleagues who don’t work in the industry and they are envious of many things I do on a day to day basis!
It’s all in the detail…
One of the most memorable elements of events is the catering, which is why paying attention to dietary requirements can be particularly important. Just passing details to venues doesn’t always cut it either, some are of course fantastic, but it pays to follow up, make suggestions, remind event planners on site to ensure they get it right – all of which the client will be blissfully unaware.
What inspires you?
The team I work with continually surprise me by remembering the smallest details about our clients; the personal touches they add to everything inspire me and remind me daily who I am working for and why it’s so important.
