60 seconds with… Holly Mills, Head of Incentives, Penguins

Beginning her career in incentive travel in 2007, Holly is an expert in delivering once in a lifetime experiences to reward and recognise groups.

Brand promise
Our vision at Penguins is to be an exceptional agency. The way we achieve this in incentives, is through our passionate delivery and by truly caring. We put ourselves not only in the shoes of the attendees but also of the corporate organiser, we understand the needs of all parties and work tirelessly to achieve them. Sometimes the inevitable happens and things run slightly off course but it is all about how you manage those bumps in the road and that is what we pride ourselves on.

What’s trending in 2018
We have seen an increase in incentive trips to the UK and why not, it has a hell of a lot to offer.

Luxury defined in 140 characters
In my opinion, luxury isn’t a commodity it is an emotion. It is often the way an object, person or experience makes you feel.

Townhouse or treehouse?
Honestly, I’d take either. I love the opportunity to explore things that are new to me – be it an apartment in Tokyo with all the latest gadgets, or a secluded beach house where nature is incorporated into the architecture and design.

The bucket list
Whilst I have been lucky enough to experience many exotic destinations, I am yet to explore India. I cannot wait to discover the sights and smells for myself and unlock its full potential for my clients. 

Last meal
Recently I had the most amazing meal at a house / restaurant in a remote village called Caboya in Costa Rica. Sat in what looked like someone’s front porch, I enjoyed amazing vegetarian delicacies in the most authentic of surroundings.

Old fave
Great Fosters in Egham, Surrey in the UK is one of my all-time favourite, yet understated, classic country escapes. 

Proud moment
For me, it has to be the launch of Penguins Incentive Travel. Having worked at Penguins for five years running a number of incentives, it was great to finally launch a reward and recognition arm of the company that was dedicated to delivering amazing luxury programmes for our clients.

Bragging rights
I have been very fortunate to experience so many unique moments, but one of my favourites has to be taking a candle lit ski lift whilst sipping champagne, to a private secluded mountainside lodge where we partied long into the night!

It’s all in the detail…
Sometimes it really is the simple things. One of our favourite surprises for attendees on trips to Alberta, Canada, is arriving to the Chateaux Lake Louise hotel at night. The evenings get so dark that you can see very little. When they wake up in the morning and look out of their lake view room windows, it is one of the greatest surprises and is always a talking point for the trip. In the summer months, we request for the hotel to open the bedroom window slightly so guests are woken by the fresh smell of pine in the mountain air.

What inspires you?
I find inspiration in the strangest of places. It could be the service I receive when ordering a coffee or a song on Spotify. When your job is to deliver unforgettable moments, you have to look beyond the big things and pinpoint the details that make a moment truly special.

 Aperol or agua?
A chilled glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc will transport me to the sunniest of moods on the gloomiest of days.

Final word…
I have been very privileged in my role to experience luxury at first hand. The most important thing to remember though, is it is not all about the big ticket items. Often the simple personal touches make the biggest impact.
