Reputed to be one of Rome’s best restaurants, La Pergola at Waldorf Astoria’s Rome Cavalieri boasts an impressive three Michelin stars and offers a decadent menu crafted by the revered chef Heinz Beck.

The finest Mediterranean produce has been sourced alongside authentic Italian oils and balsamic vinegar from the best local producers, while the discerning wines on the restaurant’s list are drawn from a cellar stocked with more than 60,000 bottles.

The ambience inside the restaurant  is one of sheer grandeur – think vermeil plates, masterpieces on the wall and classics including a rare Aubusson tapestry and a set of hand-blown glasses by Emile Gallé to spot.

From the candlelit terrace, guests can enjoy a panoramic vista across the Eternal City while enjoying an opulent meal. Start with the scallop with artichokes and black truffle, followed by deep-fried zucchini flower with caviar on shellfish and saffron consommé, before dining on fillet of veal on corn cream.

Save space for the mouth-watering iced sphere of pomegranate on gianduia cream. The adjacent Cigar Lounge is worth a peek, for its striking collection of Orientalist paintings and vintage wines, some dating back to 1888.
