Many a photographer or eager Instagrammer has risen early to capture the first light at a captivating destination. Now Belmond has teamed up with Leica Sport Optics to give their guests the very best shot of their surrounds, from historic buildings, mountains and beaches as dawn breaks.
Exclusive walks around some of the most awe-inspiring destinations on the planet, from Cape Town through to Iguassu Falls, have been created with Leica’s nature photography experts.
From Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town, photographer and ornithologist Michael Edwards has created a dawn walk to discover the flora and fauna of Table Mountain National Park, while spotting orange-breasted sunbirds and the Cape grey mongoose.
At Iguassu Falls, National Geographic photographer Luke Massey will take guests of Belmond’s Hotel das Cataratas on a nature trail to the falls while Deia’s Belmond La Residencia offers a dawn exploration along the coast, through carob and olive trees overlooking the sea.
Further First Light experiences are in development and travellers will soon be able to immerse themselves in the splendour of nature on Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula from Belmond Hotel Caruso, watch the sun rise across the Okavango Delta from Belmond Khwai River Lodge or enjoy an early morning walk around the famed Lake Titicaca from Belmond Andean Explorer, Peru.
