We take a closer look at Gulf Dunes and share some insights into some of their recent notable events.
Need a Desert Village? Lets Create it!
Recently, Gulf Dunes partnered with a leading European sports brand to organise their brand event for over 800 of their worldwide Sales and Distribution Personnel. The four day event was to solidify the brand to its employees and give them future vision, insights and goals.
The brief was to create some simple ideas, but ‘outside the box’ and to execute seamlessly for the large numbers. The programme included:
- Football Tournament for 600 persons
- Beach Volleyball tournament for 400 persons
- Marathon for all 800 persons
- Overnight in a custom built village in the desert
The highlight of the event was a custom made village in the desert. They had the guests dress up casually and told them to take an overnight bag with a towel. It was explained to all guests that they would be going to some kind of beach day with sailing and water sorts. Instead, they were whisked in 4×4 vehicles to the desert where a complete overnight village had been set for them in tents complete with beds, mattresses, pillows, blankets, carpets, bedside table and décor. Combined with a custom built campsite with five star catering, spectacular entertainment, a stage for awards and a DJ to play music till the late hours of the night.
A project of this scale was completely custom built for this event and has yet to be duplicated by anyone in Dubai.
Island Takeover at Yas
Finally, another recent achievement by Gulf Dunes was a spectacular takeover of the entire Yas Island in Abu Dhabi for a large scale conference event. Unfazed by logistical challenges, the team at Gulf Dunes tailored a bespoke programme for this leading cosmetics brand and successfully organised:
- 1000 guests staying in 600 rooms for six nights spread across four hotels
- Custom developed a huge marquee for the conference programme
- An exclusive use hire Ferrari World Theme Park for the welcome party
- A spectacular Gala Dinner at the iconic landmark of Abu Dhabi …. Emirates Palace
- Optional programme choices delivering over 25 experiences, tours etc in one day
Desert Gala with a Difference
One of their clients was looking for the WOW elements to add to a program, especially a gala venue to make the conference program for about 400 delegates be truly different and unique to the destination. Utilising the desert is not necessarily a unique experience but with clever design, detail and execution, Gulf Dunes delivered a creative event which resulted in dynamic results for the group.
The event designers at Gulf Dunes suggested that the two conference days be themed to reflect the culture for the destination of Dubai. Therefore, they split the two days and had a completely different theme for each day with both themes being unique to Dubai. On Day 1, a complete Arabic based cultural theme complete with an Arabian background for the stage, an Arabic juice server as the welcome touch, a tent Majlis style setup on the stage with carpets and low cushions. On Day 2, a futuristic theme complete with a visionary backdrop setup showcasing some of the amazing property developments and projects that are shaping the face of Dubai.
To follow the conference, a fantastic Gala Desert Dinner. Instead of having the traditional Bedouin Campsite setup, Gulf Dunes converted a campsite into a luxury version complete with a large marquis, lounge seating and palm trees. Instead of the traditional buffet, a top class seated/plated dinner service followed by spectacular fireworks to the clients own music. “The guests really felt like they have stepped into a luxury Oasis in the middle of the desert” reported Syed Awais Ahmed, Head of Business Development at Gulf Dunes. Awais added “It is this mix of tradition and vision which really is very unique to Dubai and was the ideal combination for making this programme a success.”
