As autumn sets in, attention naturally turns to what’s on the horizon for next year. But there’s plenty for #eventprofs to get excited about before 2019 arrives. Here’s just five luxury hotels set to open their doors before the end of 2018, from London to LA…
Belmond Cadogan Hotel
The long-awaited new London address for luxury brand Belmond will finally open its doors this December. The Cadogan has been closed since 2014 and is currently undergoing a £28m refurbishment, designed to preserve the unique heritage of the Queen Anne Style property dating back to 1887. The iconic London hotel is steeped in history: it was famously the scene of Oscar Wilde’s arrest in 1895. The Sloane Street property will offer 54 rooms, with London-based British talent and Head Chef of The Frog Adam Handling as executive chef, bringing his traditional yet modern British cuisine and zero waste philosophy.
Six Senses Krabey Island, Cambodia
Also set to open on 1 December, hot on the heels of its Bhutan property in October, is the new Six Senses Krabey Island, set on a 30-acre (12-hectare) private tropical island located 5km off Ream National Park in southern Cambodia. The property will offer 40 private pool villas, featuring green living roofs, sun decks with infinity plunge pools and rain showers. Other features include two restaurants offering Khmer and Southeast Asian cuisine, sunset bar and ice cream parlour and Six Senses spa, while activities on offer include water sports, fishing, snorkelling, organic farm visits with cooking classes and night sky observatory.
W Dubai The Palm
The hip hotel brand’s second address in Dubai will be on the West Crescent of the Palm Jumeirah islands with views of the Dubai skyline and the Arabian Gulf. From December, guests will be able to relax in the AWAY Spa, chill out on the SoBe rooftop, indulge in some fine dining at Torno Subito and Akira Back, and kick back on the crystalline sands of the private beach. The property will feature 350 rooms and suites and eight meeting rooms, including the 1,215sqm Great Room. A bright and bold interior design will combine state-of-the-art amenities and playful touches that are synonymous with the W brand.
The West Hollywood EDITION
The West Hollywood EDITION, to be located at 9040 West Sunset Boulevard on the east corner of West Sunset Blvd. and North Doheny Drive, will feature 190 guest rooms, 20 luxury residences and over 5,200 sq. ft. of meeting space. Food and beverage outlets include a signature restaurant, a lobby lounge, rooftop venue and a nightclub/bar. Also available will be a rooftop pool /pool deck and a four-treatment room spa.
Rosewood’s first property in Myanmar will be housed in a stunning heritage building that was originally constructed in 1927 as the New Law Courts by architect Thomas Oliphant and Doorman Long UK, the engineers behind the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. Set to open in Winter 2018, the 209-room property is located on The Strand in the heart of the city’s historic district, providing easy access for guests to explore Yangon’s top sites including the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda. Five dining venues, Sense, A Rosewood Spa, and a rooftop pool and bar, and several event spaces will also feature.
