Arctic Bath to open in Swedish Lapland

Visitors hoping to see the Northern Lights this winter will have a new luxurious hotel option, as Arctic Bath prepares to open its doors in the heart of Swedish Lapland in February.

This contemporary wellness retreat promises to let their guests be close to nature while leaving a minimal environmental footprint behind. Set on the waters of the Lulea River, downstream from the bridges of Bodträskfors, the 12-room hotel literally floats depending on the season, freezing on the ice in the winter months.

On the water’s edge a flotilla of six cabins float offering under-floor heating and an outdoor decking perfect for taking in the awe-inspiring surrounds. Six elevated ‘land cabins’ are also on offer. 

Guests can spend the morning enjoying husky sled rides, a snowmobile safari, cross country skiing and ice fishing, before taking a dip in an open-air cold bath under the northern sky or enjoying a spa treatment.

At the Scandinavian -designed restaurant, local, pure and sustainable produce has been sourced for the set menus prepared by the resident chefs, all washed down with handcrafted beer and wines.
