David Meade Talks Team Challenge with a Lasting Legacy

Anybody that knows my work, will know that I’ve done keynotes for years, training and development programmes for years and as our team has gotten bigger and our business has grown bigger, we’ve been looking for ways to do something a bit different and to do something special…

This is why we created Lightbulb, a team building company that specialises in corporate development programmes that break the mould from conventional training experiences. We have curated a fully interactive, diverse range of programmes using years of scientifically sound and evidence-based research.

Our flagship programme, Give a Hand is a hugely challenging and rewarding team-building experience that proves our attitude and our determination to tackle problems can make a positive, life-changing difference to the future of those less fortunate.

In this programme, your employees, your teams, your organisations, your people get together and build real, clinical, prosthetic hands. These are not pretend; they are not toys. They are helper hands that we send out to individuals in need, in the third world, to transform their lives.

The design of these hands is so simple. They are a perfect fit for anyone who doesn’t have access to electricity, doesn't have access to medical and clinical care and as part of the project, we fit hands on to the people who need them and will use them to transform their lives and transform their ability to live a normal life.

This is an incredibly powerful programme that we are deeply proud to be involved in.

Seeing your team build this real clinical hand as part of a training session is like nothing else you'll ever see. Having attended the clinic where the hands get fitted, we've seen so many people leave now able to work, clean, feed themselves and wash independently. This is an amazing thing, the likes of which I have never been involved in before.

We've carried out this activity at events ranging from 15 leaders to 2,000 delegates and the impact is always extraordinary. Delegates come away from this challenge with new found abilities to face challenges head on, and a purpose and determination to face challenges head on. It also reinforces a sense of how fortunate they are as well as the importance of team collaboration.

We really do believe it's the most important thing we've ever done as an organisation, and we hope we can continue to partner with clients to build more hands and make a bigger impact. I’m so honoured to be a part of this.
