Insider’s Guide to Planning a Sustainable Luxury Incentive Trip

Protecting the planet doesn’t mean compromising on luxury, far from it. It actually encourages planners to think a little differently and explore more authentic, efficient and unique ways to travel and experience the planet. As an organisation committed to supporting all of our buyer’s curate the most sustainable experiences possible for their delegates, we've rounded up some of our top tips for green travel.

Don’t Rush - It might seem obvious, but our busy lifestyles and need to constantly consume information and experiences are literally costing the earth. Spending your whole trip rushing from one place to another will actually prevent your delegates from immersing themselves in the culture, building connections and experiencing the charms and luxuries available first hand. So…slow down and reduce carbon emissions by simply staying in the same place for a little longer.

Don’t be Predictable – A more unique and authentic experience doesn’t mean you’ll need to stay overnight in a tent in the middle of nowhere. A bit of research can go a long way towards reducing the burden on over visited destinations, whilst spreading the benefits of tourism to local communities. An off-season trip will also alleviate crowding and feel more exclusive, so spend some time considering the best dates for travel too.

Travel Smart – Travelling is travelling, right? Think again. When moving around, travelling by coach or train will reduce emissions dramatically, whilst giving you and your delegates the chance to enjoy the scenery. Take some time to research various options, so that you can make a more informed decision.

Visit Protected Areas – Every year, millions of people visit some of the world’s most protected areas, generating valuable income to fund conservation projects and protect the planet's natural resources. The travel restrictions caused by the pandemic have cut off many of these essential revenue streams, putting endangered species at risk and causing financial strain on research. Thinking about where you spend your budgets and the positive impact this can hold for the planet can make a big difference.
