InterAlpen Tyrol: Niki finds her Winter Wonderland

There’s nothing like being surrounded by snow-capped mountains to get you in the festive spirit. Our own Niki Voros, inVOYAGE Global Sales Executive, was lucky enough to experience her own magical winter wonderland on a recent trip to InterAlpen-Hotel Tyrol in the Austrian Alps…

Sometimes, we just want to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and get away from it all. And thanks to InterAlpen-Hotel Tyrol’s Nicole Ireland, I found the perfect place to do just that.

From Stuttgart, we set off towards the majestic mountains of Tyrol. When we crossed the border into Austria, snow started to fall, creating a feeling of magic. I felt like I was at home in Hungary, and it reminded me of my childhood. I couldn’t help but smile.

As we turned into the private road leading to InterAlpen and drove through the snow-covered trees that stretched towards the sky, we were greeted by a dreamy winter wonderland. Everything was white and huge snow drops fell as we made our way into the hotel to check in. The impeccable concierge was of course waiting and welcomed us by name before whisking our bags away to our room.

At reception, the staff dressed local traditional costume and we were greeted with a beautiful rose and a rather cheeky box of chocolates awaited us in the room.

It was time to explore our new ‘three-day home’ and the lovely Viktoria was only too happy to show us around the hotel.

We took in everything from the sizeable rooms furnished in classic Tyrolean-style to the more contemporary penthouse suites (perhaps larger than my little house) and the beautiful restaurant where we sampled sumptuous dinners, accompanied of course by the impressive wine collection.

My confession is that a personal favourite was the sound-proofed party room, which in different times would be remiss not to experience and of course the hotel spa, which is my kind of heaven.

The excellent meeting spaces, which accommodate up to a couple of hundred people are just perfect for small-medium size events with the added exclusivity of being separated from the public spaces.

We even got to go behind the scenes, through the service tunnel, enjoying a sneak peek into the kitchen, where meeting the executive chef is always a highlight when the cuisine is so special.

Quite seriously, all of the hotel team were just a delight - so friendly, approachable and always smiling, which is so important to making you feel relaxed and happy.

The hotel still showcases the portrait of it’s founding owner Dr Hans Liebherr, and his story told by Viktoria just shows the people values of this exquisite luxury hotel in the Tyrol.

Back in our room, just lying on the bed and watching the snow fall outside over the incredible vista of the Alps was simply spellbinding. This is a place with the space to breathe!

Another highlight was my morning swim in the steaming water of the outdoor pool, surrounded by snow sparkling in the sunlight followed a leisurely walk in the forest (part of the hotel’s huge estate) with the snow crackling under our feet. Just a wonderful experience.

Our secret discovery was a “gingerbread house” with smoking chimney and surrounded by beehives, which produce the hotel’s own honey.

On this occasion we passed on the decorated horse-drawn carriage, waiting to whisk someone away to explore the stunning countryside. We’ll save this for another time.

The whole place is magical. A fairytale experience where you can enjoy simply luxurious pleasures surrounded by pure nature.

Thank you, Nicole and Viktoria and all the team for making this a unique and special experience!

The InterAlpen is truly a luxury incentive bucket-lister!
