inCENTIVES – Local Incentives From Andalusia

To celebrate the best from our March 2023 host destination, our editorial team have travelled to Andalusia to find a selection of most exciting and enjoyable local incentives. We hope you enjoy!

The Art of Flamenco

The traditional Flamenco experience draws a dedicated number of visitors to the region every year. Its roots lie in Arabic Spain, entrenched in folklore and historical significance dating back 500 years and the events are a collection of fashion shows, festivals, competitions, and dance performances. The Andalusia Tourist Board is one of inVOYAGE’s key partners for Marbella and offers visitors a chance to expand their knowledge on the history of Flamenco and find your favourite style.

A Stroll Along the Guadalquivir

Enjoy both culture and activity on this 3.8 km route along the old road between Cordoba and Seville. Begin your journey by crossing over from the old bridge over the Guadalquivir, the fifth-longest river in the Iberian Peninsula and the only major navigable river in Spain.

The path passes near the Palma del Río railway station and continues towards the west along a dirt track where you'll be able to see the Guadalquivir. The route is a gentle 30-minute bike ride or hour-long trek on foot. Before going up a small hill, you can reach the banks of the “great river”, in an area dominated by dark stones, a place that offers magnificent panoramic views of the area. A hike well worth the effort…

A Golfer’s Paradise

Enjoying the sun and golfing in Andalusia twelve months a year is a reality. With close to 120 golf courses, you can enjoy your favourite sport in any of their community's eight provinces, and in world-class courses designed by legendary players and the world's most prestigious designers.

Europe's leading golf tourist destination, Andalusia offers quality golf courses located in privileged areas, benefitting from beautiful landscapes, and situated near idyllic beaches.

Beginners, amateurs and professionals alike can all enjoy their favourite sport in multiple locations, with Marbella itself a true magnet for visiting golfers and boasting the highest density of golf courses in Spain. The whole of Costa del Sol – knows as Costa del Golf – is home to more than half of Andalusia's golf courses.

Caving in Andalusia

Caving – one of the most exciting ways to experience nature – is a truly exceptional activity to enjoy in Andalusia. Deep marine caves, hidden caverns, dark labyrinths, narrow fissures... an underground world, home to all kinds of caves where you can explore and discover secrets of the past.

Some of the most popular sites in the province of Málaga are the Hundidero-Gato Crossing, an old subterranean river course, Gaduares, El Republicano Cave and El Agua Cave, and the Cacao Cave in Cádiz.

A degree of physical and mental training is recommended before setting out which calls for utmost safety. The good news is that there are various schools and associations that organise courses and excursions to visit these sites, complete with the support of professionals with full hydro-geological knowledge of the area. For more information, visit the Andalusia Tourism Board official website.
