Experience This: Boating along from the Pulitzer Amsterdam
The warmer months in the beautiful city of Amsterdam are hard to resist – think bike tours around the city, verdant borders with bright flowers and bustling markets. This is also the perfect season take to the waters of Amsterdam’s historic central canal belt and explore the city by boat, as travellers have done for centuries.
Base yourself at the Pulitzer Amsterdam, managed by inVOYAGE 2019 partner Lore Group, which has a mission to promote heritage and cultural travel to ‘prestigious historic treasures’, such as the UNESCO World Heritage site that is the city’s 17th century Canal Ring.
Located in the buzzy Nine Streets neighbourhood, the hotel offers two vessels for trips – Pulitzer’s saloon boat ‘Tourist’ which dates back to 1909 and features classic polished teak and brass, plus marble, leather and bevelled glass, while the Pulitzer’s ‘Belle’is a 45-year old classic open tender made from teak.
Departing daily for a 75-minute cruise, ‘Tourist’ is the larger of the two vessels, while ‘Belle’ is available for private tours only, with a maximum of 12 passengers, and is available from March through to the end of October.
For a more exclusive affair, private tours can be arranged, and a cruise can be tailor-made with Champagne, fine dining or a decadent floating picnic.
