Mondrian London rebrands as Sea Containers London

Mondrian London has rebranded as Sea Containers London and will now be managed by Lore Group as part of its collection of independent hotels.

Lore Group – an international hospitality company operating in Europe and the US and the asset manager for the hotel’s existing owner Archlane – will take over the management of the property from sbe. Other hotels managed by Lore Group, which is attending inVOYAGE 2019 in October, include Pulitzer in Amsterdam and Riggs in Washington DC.

The hotel will continue normal operations throughout its transition, with much of its features and facilities – including the Agua Spa, Curzon Cinema and Sea Container Restaurant – remaining unchanged by the acquisition.

Planned changes include the relaunch of both the Dandelyan and rooftop bars. The Dandelyan bar will feature a brand-new concept developed by Ryan Chetiyawardana, AKA Mr Lyan, while the rooftop bar, formerly the Rumpus Room, will be renamed 12th Knot.

Tom Dixon’s transatlantic design of the hotel will also largely remain as it is, with some interior updates expected in the future.

Billy Skelli-Cohen, CEO, Lore Group said: “We’re very excited about this new era and next step in the hotel’s story. Our incredible hotel team will continue to offer guests an unrivalled experience at Sea Containers London. We have lots of initiatives in the pipeline and look forward to welcoming all our guests in 2019 and beyond.”

The 359-room hotel opened within the renovated 1970s Sea Containers building in 2014 as the first Mondrian-branded property outside the US.

Mondrian continues to manage four properties in New York, Los Angeles, Miami South Beach and Doha.
