Shangri-La’s unique local experiences (Copy)

A stay at a Shangri-La property is an experience its own right – and to further add to the splendour, a number of the luxury group’s hotels have introduced special events and authentic moments to further enhance the experience for meeting and incentive groups.

In London, the property at The Shard has teamed up with Mimo London, the gastronomy experts, to introduce interactive food experiences at neighbouring Borough Market. Groups can head out on a market tasting tour with an expert chef or spend an afternoon learning how to cook straight from market to table using fresh British seasonal produce to create Iberian classics.

Meanwhile, across the Channel at the Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, Prince Roland Bonaparte’s former private mansion is the setting for a multi-sensory banquet. A butler introduces the host for the evening, who opens the doors of the lounge to welcome in the guests for the Bonaparte dinner, created by chef Christophe Moret.

The culinary attraction gets altogether sweeter at the Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto where the property’s B-Wall – a custom-made beehive home to approximately 50,000 urban honeybees – provides home harvested honey. Groups looking to theme their dinners or events can make the most of the hotel’s ‘Bee-Spoke menus’ for groups from ten to 800.

And for those in search of the ultimate private dining backdrop, Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius offers private dinners on the secluded island of Ilôt Mangénie. Boat shuttles will take guests from the hotel’s jetty to the beach restaurant, where chefs create tailor-made menus personalised playlists.
