Aspiring writers in search of the ultimate backdrop and company to get the creative juices flowing can thank Silversea for rising to the challenge. The cruise provider has created a number of new itineraries for 2019 but the literati will only have eyes for the World Cruise. Across 132 days, the sleek all-suites Silver Whisper will pull in to 52 ports in 31 countries across five continents.
The Tale of Tales itinerary includes an array of overnights and experiences such as two days in Tokyo, a circumnavigation of Africa with a stop in Cape Town, and a break in Bordeaux to sample the region’s famous wines. Saint-Malo, the gateway to Mont Saint-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Bilbao’s cultural scene are also included for visits before the voyage concludes in London.
And why the Tale of Tales? Will you be expected to put pen to paper and write tales onboard? To encourage exactly that, nine writers will join the adventure, each creating a short story inspired by the regional culture and landscape. The result will be an exclusive anthology of the voyage, dubbed The Tale of Tales. Paul Theroux and Pico Iyer have already signed up. Could you be the tenth writer to join the literati at sea?
While more than four months at sea is a tempting prospect, we’re not sure incentive groups would get sign off for quite such a long voyage. Silversea of course offers a number of shorter itineraries ideal for corporate groups. Whether you’re looking for a limited number of suites for an exclusive incentive or a full-ship charter for a highly customised special event, Silversea’s corporate and incentive cruises feature intriguing itineraries with over 800 enticing destinations on all seven continents.
Silversea will be attending inVOYAGE 2017.
