First look: Airelles Chateau de Versailles set for summer opening

Versailles is set to welcome another majestic property to its impeccable grounds, as the much-awaited Airelles Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle opens its doors this summer. And here’s a sneak peek at designs for the newest luxury addition to the Airelles portfolio.

Sister property to the luxurious Les Airelles in Courchevel, Le Grand Contrôle nestles within the very grounds of the internationally-renowned Château de Versailles and affords views across the Orangerie, the Pièce d’Eau des Suisses and The Palace itself. The hotel is housed inside three historic buildings, built in 1681 by Jules-Hardouin Mansart, Louis XIV’s favourite architect.

Securing a night in one of the 14 opulent rooms and suites is certain to bag bragging rights for the rest of the decade – at least. Each room is individually appointed with a grand 18th century-style chandelier, antique wall lights and candles, while some of the larger suites feature four-poster beds.

A team of the most highly-acclaimed craftspeople from across France were commissioned to recreate some of the original features, including wood panelling and flooring, while stunning bespoke fabrics were created for the upholstery.

The signature Alain Ducasse restaurant features a terrace and bar for post-prandial drinks while the indulgent spa by Valmont and a 15-metre indoor swimming pool will ensure that guests feel utterly relaxed. As befitting a property in such a historic location, guests can enjoy exclusive experiences in the palace and the grounds, walking in the footsteps of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette.

Airelles will be attending inVOYAGE 2020 on 4-7 October in Mykonos – sign up now to meet with Corentin Folliot at the event and find out more about the brand’s portfolio of luxury properties.
