Spotlight on The Hoxton

We caught up with  Lena Wantjer, Director of MICE & Consortia ‑ Northern & Eastern Europe at the Hoxton to find out what the series of open-house hotels inspired by the diversity and originality of the streets and scenes that surround us has in store for us this year.

Joining us in Lucerne, representing the Hoxton group and the newly opened Rome, Lena says, “Just like our doors, our minds are open too. Ever since we opened our first hotel in Shoreditch, East London, way back in 2006, we’ve never just been about offering a bed for the night. We want to be more than that: providing a place where guests can hang out alongside the locals and submerse themselves in the neighbourhood with vibrant, welcoming public spaces.”

“Then there's our eclectic programme of monthly events, where we bring the outside in and work with local creatives to curate events unique to each location.  We have properties in London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, NY, LA, Portland and Chicago and we are soon to open The Hoxton in Barcelona followed by our fourth hotel in London.”

Following on from their most recent opening, the Hoxton Rome with 192 bedrooms, a coffee bar and takeaway counter, a large light-flooded restaurant, and a beautiful outdoor terrace, the opening of Barcelona will mark the eleventh property to join their global portfolio.

Lena continues, “Set in our favourite corner of Barcelona offering a real flavour of local life, we've got 240 rooms, a rooftop pool and taqueria, a bright and airy lobby, a sunny pizza terrace and slice shop. We also have four different categories of rooms starting with the Roomy (22 sqm). Roomy’s are the best option for groups that needs to have the same standard of rooms. We're the first hotel of the brand with the Homey room, a new category that comes with a bedroom, kitchenette and dining table. Great for long stays or to accommodate your VIPs.”

The Hoxton Barcelona will also boast multiple event spaces including La Cava, a large and versatile basement space, featuring its own bar and additional side rooms. There's also The Apartment, a light and bright event space with three meeting rooms scattered around the communal pantry, a unique and fully flexible space that you can make your own.For a more relaxed, after-hours feel there’s an exclusive event space on the rooftop.

This property is scheduled to open this spring and will be a fabulous addition to The Hoxton group.
